GLAM LIFE: STYLE & FASHION
Face it, fashion changes just like the leaves change in Fall, and
if you don’t keep up, you’ll be left behind.
It’s important to make an effortless transition with what you already
have (operative words) in your closet.
With weeks left
of summer still to enjoy, it’s never too early to start thinking of
cool-weather clothes. Listen, I’m a beach bunny at heart, so I’m the last
person to rush into fall here, but before long, days will grow chill chill,
summer staples will feel too summer-y, and newly arrived liquid Gucci booties will catch your eye at your favorite fashion-go-to sites or at the nearest mall.

What to wear, you might ask?!
Well, for starters, whether it’s a little dress, denim shorts, a
legging, or a cut-out shirt, any great piece can be turned into
statement-making style. The key is to keep it all in the family. Picture a long-sleeved top in a
very thin, drapey fabric to wear with summer pieces. A flowy jacket or a lightweight scarf, are
versatile options that are easy to slip on and off (you know for those private
summers – quick hot flashes, we ALL get them from time to time, don’t front). Pair this with a colored ankle skinny jean
and a cute flat or sandal – you’ll be good to go.
For those colder days (burrr), you can just throw it over a dress for that effortless bohemian
chic look.
• Beam me up Scottie!! Give your T-shirts a
boost with embellishments - some kind of sparkle, studs, rhinestones or
cutouts. Simply add a great skinny jean,
high-waist shorts, or even a circle skirt paired with a blazer and heels to go
from daytime fab to night time glam. Printed blouses work
for late summer, early fall, as they are on the comeback for the upcoming
season. Printed tunics are also a good-go-to; they work as popular transitional pieces too.
• The darker the denim,
the sweeter the look and in the case of denim, always go dark. While I adore denim of all shades, faded or lighter denim makes
me think spring or summer, but a darker jean gives a more crisp look, especially as the cold
front nears. Try a pair with one of those printed blouses. Winning!
• For the love of
layering: Wear a colorful printed shirtdress unbuttoned over a tank top with ankle-cropped
jeans. Worn this way, with the dress
hitting just above the knee gives the look of an easy summer coat. Accessorize with a lightweight scarf, with a
pop of color from the dress (or not), belted, strappy sexy sandals and loads of jingle
jangle bracelets will complete the look. I
love scarves; they always finish off a look perfectly, giving it that extra
little somethin' somethin'. Tailored denim shirts are also a
good layering piece. They go with everything, and I do mean, everything!

• Don’t pack up those summer
dresses just yet, they can work for cooler weather with tights or leggings and
a more fall-type shoe (think booties, chic loafer, oxford lace up). And don’t forget to grab one of those
cardigans or even a long-sleeved shirt underneath depending on the dress style. WERK those layers, honey.
• Sandals be wear: Don't be fooled, there are many more weeks of sandal-wearing to be had, especially if you live in warmer climate cities like LA (that would be me). But eventually you’ll need to swap those summery pastels, sunny brights and whites for golds, browns and blacks. Metallics are good late summer options too.
• Tame that kitty: I love my animal print, but just a smidge – in an accent piece, like a belt, bag, shoe or scarf.

• Nail service, is so
very necessary. I've had fun with all of the bright colors like the hot pinks and neons, but soon it'll be time to put these colors back on the shelf (just until next summer, that is). Wink! While I'm a French mani fan, let's give these a rest too, unless, that’s a French
with darker colors and lighter tips or some sort of funky combo. Love this look.
With August almost over and September just around the corner, taupes and sandy colors are all the rage. Next to follow, will be the darker hues; like varying shades of browns, vampy reds and of course my go to all time faves, Smokin' Hot by Essie or Lincoln Park after Dark by OPI. You can never go wrong with either one of these. And of course, I love an accent nail or two. Creative nails in the fall color palette will win every time.

Well, I guess that'll be it from me. I hope I've inspired you with helpful suggestions to work with what you already have. But what do I know after all?! I'm just a regular girlie girl with a passion for fashion and style...
I'll leave you with this, fashion is subjective, so rock whatever makes you feel fierce, and always remember to OWN it!!
